Here’s a crazily detailed etching by Robin Tanner which we framed in 2024 - called Autumn - bought by our customer at an antique auction.
Tanner - an English etcher and printmaker – made the original plates for this botanical design in 1932.
His inspiration came from the Wiltshire countryside which he adored, and where he would later print this etching - at the Old Chapel Field Press. You can see the words ‘fec. et imp.’ in pencil below the image. These are Latin abbreviations used by printmakers to mean ‘made by’ and ‘printed by’.
We framed this print using a dark brown scoop profile moulding from our Whitman collection, and finished it with anti-reflective glass which reduces reflections to less than 1% and filters out 70% of UV rays.
