This beautiful impressionist-style picture of a vase of flowers, painted by a late family member of our customer, was brought into us for reframing in 2016.
The original dark frame was drawing the eye away from the delicate tones used in the painting, and needed replacing with something that allowed the flowers to be the focus of the display
After looking through our extensive collection of picture frame mouldings, our customer chose this cleverly designed white painted moulding with a stepped inner edge finished in metallic silver which gives the illusion of a slip moulding without the extra cost of additional second inner frame.
To help protect the artwork from fading - and to reduce reflections to less than 1% - we finished the frame with anti-reflective glass which contains 70% UV filter.
In order to separate the painting from the glass (so they don't stick together over time) we also added a small transparent spacer to the frame. A window mount would perform this job normally however - given the choice of frame - we decided together with the customer that, in this instance, close framing the print would look better than adding a mount.
As the frame is such an important part of display, reframing a picture really can breathe new life in to it. Our customer was really happy with the result, as were we.
