These wonderful keepsakes from WWII were brought to us for framing in early 2025 by the proud granddaughter of the gentleman in the photograph.
Her grandfather was serving in the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry (KOYLI) in France when he was injured. Whilst recovering in the military hospital, he passed the time by embroidering a piece of cloth with the KOYLI badge, which comprises a French horn with a white rose of York in the twist, along with the words CEDE NULLIS beneath - meaning Yield to None.
We chose a navy blue window mount and a muted gold picture frame moulding; a combination of colours which work well with many military displays.
The picture frame moulding is from our sustainably-sourced Petite collection, and its brushed foil finish also comes in three other heritage tones: brass, pewter and copper.
Anti-reflective glass with 70% UV protection will help prevent the items from further fading, and - with less than 1% reflection - will also provide unparalleled clarity.
If you have a collection of antique items you'd like to have framed we can help you to find just the right combination of colours and style at our Showroom here in Derbyshire on the edge of the Peak District. Click here to book an appointment.
