It can be busy and hectic, hence we always keep our eyes open for new recruits!
We work to high standards and have high-quality machinery and framing expertise inhouse to help meet those high standards.
Our company is also a pretty high tech venture with our in house advanced software and IT which helps the business run day to day.
We only use quality materials; only use wooden moulding, and do not use plastics.
We will also consider taking on apprentices from time to time; if you are interested please email us with a CV.
Your hard work will be much appreciated; we offer good rates of pay, potential yearly bonus, workplace pension and an Employee Assistance Program to help you and your close family should you need any support.
We’re currently looking for a Framing Workshop Assistant. The successful candidate will be comfortable multi-tasking when things get busy, and pro-active when it comes to problem-solving.
You would start off working in our Dispatch department learning how to package orders ready to be dispatched to customers.
You would use cardboard cutting tools and equipment to create custom-made boxes to ensure the safe arrival of items such as picture frame moulding, picture frames, and cut-to-size mountboard and glass.
You would then progress to using sheet-cutting equipment to cut glass by hand, and a computerised mountboard cutter to cut picture frame mounts.
Finally, you would learn how to use our Mitre Saw to cut wooden picture frame moulding, as well our Underpinner to join the mitred lengths together to create picture frames.
Would there be an opportunity to develop further?
Following a successful assessment of your potential, if you would like to become a qualified Picture Framer we would pay for training and examination by the Fine Art Trade Guild for you to become a Guild Certified Framer, and we would increase your salary accordingly.
Our ‘Christmas rush’ starts from around September/October and lasts until mid to late January.
If you’re interested in a short-term (3 or 6 months) contract during this time, please get in touch.
You’d be helping our Dispatch team quality-check, package and label framing-related orders, ready to be collected by our couriers late afternoon.
This would involve cutting sheets of cardboard to size using cutting equipment (Fletcher Multi-Material Cutter) and handheld tools such as Stanley knives, in order to create packages for orders such as custom-sized mountboard, glass and picture frame moulding as well as finished picture frames. You would also help take delivery of framing-related materials which arrive throughout the day.
In the past, temporary contracts have often turned in to permanent ones. If you think you’d be a good fit for our Company, please email a copy of your CV to rebecca@vallaton.co.uk.
