Having been gifted this incredible historic relic from HMS Elephant - Lord Nelson's flagship at the Battle of Copenhagen in 1801 - our customer was keen to get it framed.
Our Framers used transparent thread to hold the nail in place, in line with the Fine Art Trade Guild (FATG) standards; one of which is to ensure that no harmful adhesives are used that, over time, may fail and/or damage the item.
Bespoke spacers were made from the same Onyx mountboard as the undermount whilst the frame was made with a moulding from our Foundry collection - 332900 - bronze in colour with an industrial-style finish to complement the rough surface of the rusty nail.
A gold colour nameplate - with details of the item - was also placed inside the frame. (Nameplates can also be attached to the front of the moulding.)
Tru Vue Ultra Vue glass completes the display and ensures unparalleled clarity and 70% UV filter.
If you have a valuable historic relic which you would like to protect and display inside a frame, call us on 01246 554338 or email us at sales@bramptonframing.com for advice and a no obligation quote.
