This reproduction oil painting of Rembrandt's The Night Watch was brought into us for framing in September 2016.
As with most oil paintings, it arrived rolled up in a tube and needed stretching around a wooden frame before we could fit it into the decorative outer frame. Our framers have years of experience in stretching oil paintings, so please get in touch if you have a project for us.
We looked at several frames while the customer was in our Chesterfield workshop, but they were swaying towards the handmade frames from our Traditional English Range. So we got a few examples out and eventually chose this 4 1/2 " wide Chippendale profile with custom colours. These frames are all handmade to order, so we are able to choose the profile width, decoration and colour finish. This means that we can get an authentic looking antique frame made to measure for any size, so they are very popular with the more traditional style of artwork which is brought into us.
They are also available to order online and have delivered if you have artwork (or anything!) that needs fitting inside.
This is the first time we have used this colour combination on a frame and we were really happy with the result. It's important to choose the right time period and style of frame when matching a traditional oil painting, which is why this particular range are so popular and versatile.
