Our sister company, Barton Galleries is an oil painting reproduction specialist and we work closely with the customers to choose the right frame for each piece. This particular painting is a reproduction of Alfred Stevens’ portrait of Mary Ann, Wife of Leonard Collman.
The painting was sent to us in it’s raw form, so we made a bespoke stretcher frame up and carefully stretched the oil paintings over the timber frame. Our team here at Brampton have years of experience with stretching and framing oil paintings so please get in touch if you have a similar project.
The colours used in this oil painting are very warm, while still maintaining a high contrast between subject and the background.
Keeping this in mind, we looked at several suitable frames with the customer and decided to go with this handmade Moorland profile frame from our Traditional English range. As these are all handmade to order, we were able to choose the exact colours used to compliment the artwork. The traditional gold leaf combined with a antique black works perfectly with this piece; both our framers and the customers were very happy with this project!
