Here is a family keepsake, brought to us to be remounted, reframed and reglazed.
Unfortunately, once we’d taken the watercolour out of its original frame we found that it had been glued to the mountboard (rather than ‘hinged’ to it with tape).
Luckily though, the colour of the mount core (which would have originally been white) had discoloured to a shade of beige which actually tied in quite well with the colours in the picture. So we placed a new Conservation-level mount, of the same thickness, over the top of it, making sure both bevels aligned seamlessly.
We decided on a gold frame with green highlights to match the greenery of the landscape around the lake, and used specialist UV 99% Conservation glass to protect it from further fading.
Now the painting’s been given a new lease of life, it’s ready to pass on to the next generation.
If you have a precious watercolour which needs reframing or just reglazing fill in this form for a no obligation quote.
