Inset Frames for Set of Four Oil Paintings on Board by Catherine Kleeli

These four oil paintings brought to us for framing in 2023 by the Derbyshire-based artist, Catherine Kleeli, have been painted on board.

Catherine uses cine film as a reference point for her paintings, and is a good customer of ours.

As the pictures are painted on board, we decided to display them in white stained inset frames for that 'float frame' look.

Similar to float frames - a.k.a. tray frames - which are designed to hold stretched canvases - inset frames display artwork that has been painted directly on to artist board.

Once framed, the edges of the board are still visible so none of the artwork is hidden behind a rebate as it would be if a conventional moulding was used.

Catherine was delighted with the results - as were we! - and went on to sell the set later in the year at Buxton’s annual Great Dome Art Fair - an award-winning event, held in the beautiful Devonshire Dome where Catherine and other members of Peak District Artisans exhibit their work.
