In the summer of 2025, a lady came to us for framing who'd been on a 100-day, round-the-world cruise the year before and brought back a world map as a memento.
The colourful map showed all the ports of call along the route which included places such as Cape Town, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney, Honolulu and Freeport in the Bahamas.
One of the mouldings from our FSC ® certified Linden collection turned out to be a perfect match for the different tones of blue used in the sea. This moulding range is a great option when you want something eye-catching but still subtle, as its muted colours are created using a stain - rather than a paint - which allows the wood's unique grain pattern to show through.
No need for a window mount with this piece so we made sure to add a 1.5mm spacer behind the glass to make sure the map doesn't stick to it over time, meaning the customer could - if she wished - remove it undamaged from the frame one day in the future.
Finally, the choice of Conservation glazing - with 99% UV filter to combat fading - will ensure this map can be enjoyed by many more generations to come.
Our Framers have been framing precious maps since 2006, so you can rest assured that we treat every single one with the utmost care and respect. Call us on 01246 554338 or email sales@bramptonframing.com for more information.
