Vintage Half Chaps Framed

These fantastic vintage ladies overboots were restored by a local shoemaker, who brought them in to us for framing.

After looking at various options, we eventually chose this Chippendale frame from our Traditional English Handmade Collection. These frames can be fully customised, meaning our customers can specify the exact colour and width of moulding amongst other details.

The red suedette mountboard and plaque give the display a museum style, and the leather boots were hand sewn in place on the seams, so no harsh adhesives were used. This also means that, should the shoemaker wish to, he can always remove the boots from the frame.

Framing in line with the standards of the Fine Art Trade Guild - of which we are members - ensures that everything we do is 100% reversible.

Our Framers then made a box frame with an extended rebate - covered using bespoke spacers made from the same red suedette mountboard - to allow plenty of room for the boots, ensuring the glass doesn't stick to the leather over time.

Now on display in our customer's shop, showcasing his impressive cobbling skills.
