These twelve delicate floral ceramic plates - one for each month of the year - originally belonged to our customer's Mother, who had taken great care in storing them over the years.
Rather than keeping them in a box, our customer decided she would prefer to have them displayed on the wall so with one of our computerised mountboard cutters we created a large sandy coloured cream window mount with 12 small oval apertures. We did the same again with a pale green mountboard only this time we made the apertures slightly smaller so that you could see a narrow pale green line inside the the inner edge of the apertures cut from the first window mount.
Each ceramic plate was then sewn onto an acid-free snow white undermount to secure them in place without using harsh adhesives, which can fail over time.
Then it was time to create bespoke spacers from the sandy coloured cream mountboard in order to cover the inner edges of the barefaced wooden frame, and also to create enough of a gap so that the glass didn't touch the plates.
Now these beautiful keepsakes are both protected and up on display in our customer's home - the best of both worlds!
