Framed Cross Stitch of Winter Scene

When this charming winter scene was brought into us we began - as we do with all our cross stitches - by stretching and lacing it.

Ensuring the lattice of stitches is taut enough to prevent the fabric from sagging, but also loose enough to ensure it stays flat and doesn't pucker, is very important. If not done correctly, the cross stitch will never sit properly under the mounts or inside the frame.

Despite being more time-consuming, this method is completely reversible, and also adheres to the standards set by the Fine Art Trade Guild, of which we are proud members.

Although some framers use adhesives to simply stick the artwork to an undermount, we don't, as they can easily stain and damage the fabric. Neither do we press, iron, or bond fabrics to the undermount, as these can spoil the three-dimensional effect of the artwork.

We then double mounted the piece using colours which complement the tones in both the picture frame moulding as well as the picture itself. Glazing is then always added to protect the cross stitch from dust and accidental damage.

We have been framing cross stitches since 2006 so if you need experienced and professional framing advice for your labour of love please call us on 01246 554338 or email us at sales @bramptonframing.com
