This original oil on board, signed Clodel, was framed in a Larson Juhl Marais II moulding, ref. 727593, a stylish frame with a French Ebony finish - a unique, ebony black walnut finish with a slight grey patina and a subtle wood grain texture.
As the painting was made onto board, no stretching or special preparation is required before framing, and no glass is required. Oil paints can actually take many years to fully dry, and if placed in a sealed package behind glass, chemicals that sublimate from the paint can fog up the glass, leading to cleaning being needed. However, this does not harm the painting, provided the glass is not touching the actual paint surface, so can be an option where extra protection is required.
