If you have an oil painting that requires stretching, there are two options:

1. Gallery stretching  
2. Traditional stretching.

Gallery stretching involves making a bespoke stretcher frame from a deep wooden moulding. The painting is stretched such that the painted image is shown on the sides of the stretcher frame. The painting can then be hung without the need for a traditional frame. This popular method suits abstract type paintings. However, This method does not use tension wedges, therefore the canvas cannot be re-tensioned over time.

In traditional stretching, a stretcher frame is created. The painting is then stretched around the frame; the bars are measured to assure none of the image is lost to the sides. Traditionally stretched paintings have tension wedges in the inside corners of the frame enabling you to easily re-tension the canvas over a period of time. We can stretch any painting required, either using cost effective stretcher bars, or museum quality bars as required.
