Watercolour is usually applied to paper or thin board. Watercolour paints can be mixed with other substances like adhesive or even egg white to produce different intensities or colour and texture, such as gouache and tempera. Watercolour paintings need to be carefully protected and encased in a glazed frame.

Watercolour is laid onto paper in layers; thus it is not dry mounted as this can make the picture appear flattened because the texture is lost.

Our experienced framer can frame watercolours with a variety of frames and mounts with the utmost of care and the highest of quality.
