Picture Framing Watercolour Paintings
Framing Watercolour Paintings
Typically a Watercolour painting is framed using a mount and frame, we can advise on the colour of mount to suit your painting. There are a very wide range of mounts available including of course a wide range of colours but also options such as the depth of the mount, the quality, ie standard, conservation and museum.
Watercolours are attached to the mount board using reversible conservation methods, no glues or low quality tapes are used.
If budget methods of attaching watercolours can fail or even damage your artwork over time. For example if low quality tapes are used to attach a watercolour, over time, particularly if hung over a radiator the tapes can dry out and fail leaving you needing to reopen the sealed frame to re-fix the watercolour. All this can be avoided by using professional tapes in the first place.
UV light can fade and damage watercolour paintings, consideration should be given to using UV filter glass.
Even modern lighting can emit UV light, so even if your picture will not be hung in direct light, if your item is either of financial or sentimental value, UV filter glass should be considered.
Our experienced framers can advise on the best choice of frame to show off your watercolour painting and protect it. We take utmost care and work to the highest standards.
